Self Care, Resilience & Wellbeing
Understanding your needs when life feels busy, difficult or overwhelming.
Looking after your emotional health can become particularly important during busy or difficult periods, yet these are often the times when our own needs fall to the bottom of the list.
What is Self Care?
Self-care means making space to notice and respond to your own physical and emotional needs. It is not a substitute for counselling or healthcare, but can help you feel more resourced when life is demanding.
How might Self Care Affect you?
When self-care disappears, you may feel depleted, exhausted, overwhelmed or less able to manage difficult emotions and everyday pressures.
When might Counselling be helpful?
If you feel unable to manage difficult feelings or some of life's challenges despite trying to look after yourself, you may want to consider speaking with a counsellor.
How can Counselling help?
Counselling can provide dedicated time to understand your needs, explore what makes it difficult to prioritise yourself and consider more sustainable ways of caring for your wellbeing.
Taking care of yourself
When you are used to caring for other people or putting their needs before your own, paying attention to yourself can feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. You may find it difficult to know what you need, or feel guilty when you try to create space for yourself.
Self-care is not always about doing more. Sometimes it means resting, saying no, asking for help or recognising that something in your life no longer feels right.

Online counselling
Online counselling is available for UK-based clients, offering a flexible option during a time when energy, work or other responsibilities may make travel less convenient.
